Job
Purpose
- To manage and optimise the Regional Data Center
comprising of Unix/Solaris/Windows servers, Oracle Databases and VPN with
the objective of ensuring a high level of system security and an
acceptable level of performance is available at all times:

Key Accountabilities:
- Solaris
administration with minimum 3 years’ experience with Solaris 10 and
Solaris 11 and good knowledge of shell programming. Candidates with
Solaris certification are preferred
- Network
administration with minimum 3 years’ experience with Cisco, Juniper and
Fortigate network devices. Candidates with minimum CCNA certification are
preferred
- SAN
administration preferably StorageTek SAN storage
- Oracle
Solaris Cluster administration
- Windows
Administration, preferably with MCSE certification
- Virtualization
– VMWare, SUN virtualization / thin client
- To
manage and optimise performance on all servers & hardware peripherals
at the Regional Data Center in order to provide efficient hardware support
on all application systems for all Business Units in Kuwait.
- To
manage, monitor and coordinate tuning of Oracle databases to ensure
optimum system availability & database performance including load
balancing, backup & restore administration and Data Retention.
- To
manage, monitor and coordinate tuning of network components to optimise
performance of data & telephony systems.
- To
manage program and data migration from test to production environment
including installation of system version migration & program patches.
- To
ensure that documentation of Technical System manuals are adequate to
serve as reference guides.
- To
manage and optimize the availability of email services and to provide
email administration standards for User ID Management and User Address
List.
- To
manage PABX and IP telephony services.
- To
implement system security measures to ensure compliance within Group IT
Audit standards.
- To
manage and guide Store IT in PC Applications including Anti-virus updates
and tracking of hardware assets and software licenses.
- To
coordinate IT supplies and installation to support new store openings.
- Any
other work as directed by the Regional IT Manager.

Qualifications & Experience
|
- B.
Sc. or Advanced Diploma in Computing.
- Preferable
to have Solaris & CCNA Certification.
- At
least 3-5 years hands-on experience in Unix administration including
scripting and security management.
- At
least 3-5 years hands-on experience in Oracle Database administration
including performance tuning, backup & recovery methodologies and
capacity planning.
- At
least 3-5 years hands-on experience in Enterprise Network administration
including management of VPN using ADSL, ISDN & VOIP technologies and
IP Telephony services.
- Experience
in installation of application systems and program patches for retail
systems, preferably GOLD.
- Experience
in email, PABX, PC Office Application administration preferred.
- Experience
in supporting POS, scales and PDT preferred.
